John Allan is a multi -instrumentalist and singer/songwriter who has performed with the Chieftains, Korn, the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, the Tonight Show Band and at the 2002 Coachella Music Festival with Dreamworks act "Forest for the Trees". As a member of the L..A. Scots Pipe Band John has performed and competed all over North America and Europe. The band has also performed and recorded John's compositions.

After moving from Scotland to Los Angeles to pursue a rock music career, John ran into a pipe band drummer who turned out to be his former bagpipe teacher's grandson. Their conversation rejuvenated John's love of the bagpipes.

John joined the LA Scots pipe band in 1998 and played with them as the first American band to qualify for the grade one World Championship finals in 1999. During this period he also started playing guitar with a traditional celtic band and graduated from Musicians Institute in Hollywood, California.

John decided it was time to combine the music he loved: rock, bagpipes, and celtic music. The result is the current CD, "Stand Easy".

He has assembled a band of world class musicians who are also members of Joe Cockers band, The L.A. Scots Pipe Band and Sweetwater. The band has many impressive performance and writing credits including Tina Turner, Rod Stewart, and Heart.

The band came together to share John’s vision to create a landmark fusion of commercial songwriting, Celtic music and Rock and Roll. The CD contains both original and traditional songs and instrumentals presented with vocals, bagpipes, electric/acoustic guitars, mandolin, whistles, bass and drums.

If you were ever a fan of the Chieftains, Lorrena McKennit, Ashley McIsaac, Wolfstone Seven Nations, or Natalie McMaster. This is a more commercial rock version of all that. John has played with various performers such as Korn, The Chieftains, Michael Flattley, Charlotte Church, The Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, and The Tonight Show Band. He has also appeared or played in numerous movies and TV shows such as Austin Powers 2, Primary Colors, West Wing, and Providence.
