AMERICA'S FOUNDING SECRET: WHAT THE SCOTTISH ENLIGHTENMENT TAUGHT OUR FOUNDING FATHERS
Author: Mr. Robert W. Galvin
All Scots are deservedly proud of what they and their ancestors have contributed to mankind
over recent centuries. But ironically almost no Scots know, and some 98% of all Americans are
equally uninformed, that without the influence of the Scottish Enlightenment, we would have never
incrementally had the great constitutional founding of the United States of America.
In this book, America's Founding Secret, the centerpiece is the Scottish Enlightenment and what it
taught the founding fathers of the United States government. This remarkable assembly in Scotland
of the smartest people in all fields of knowledge assembled in one place, and essentially at one time
(the mid 1700s), is a consequence that derived from an intent by earlier Scots to find the way to
improve the manners and the morals of their wicked leaders. Over generations (from 1500 to 1700),
more and more scholarship developed among the highly educatable Scots, and ultimately by the middle
of the 1700s, there was a cast of superb intellectuals there in all fields. They studied together;
debated together; wrote essays and books. They taught at the universities and brought to their whole
community great pieces of wisdom, which was taught to the founding fathers in the thirteen colonies
by religious leaders from Scotland who came for evangelical purposes, and simultaneously
tau ght what they learned from their fellow Edinburgh and Glasgow Enlightenment scholars.
The book pinpoints the significant inputs that were imparted to the likes of James Madison,
Alexander Hamilton and Thomas Jefferson starting in their teens that made critical contributions
to their eventually authoring the founding of the most progressive and advanced country in the
history of man. This significant piece of history has been inadvertently obscured. Americans
should know it; Scots should proudly know it. It provides a set of fundamentals that suggest
promises for the future of other countries that today should be seeking to improve their
governmental purpose and function.
